Description

An industrial butter churn (batch butter churn) churns cream with 25–40% fat into butter. It is installed after the separator on farms, in small workshops and at dairy plants where butter is made by churning. Milberg manufactures butter churns from 30 to 3,000 L in food-grade stainless steel: paddle churns (ML model) for small volumes and drum churns (MI model) for continuous production. A drum churn produces denser butter, up to 82% fat. Cream fills 25–40% of the drum volume, and churning takes 40 to 120 minutes.

An industrial butter churn, technically called a batch drum butter churn, is designed to churn cream, previously obtained by separation in a separator, into butter. Cream with 25 to 40% fat is poured through a hatch into the churn drum, up to about 0.4–0.5 (up to half) of its total geometric volume. For good-quality churning, the cream fill should be within 0.25–0.4 of the total volume. For example, a churn with a geometric volume of 100 L (models MI 100, MPD 100, MP 100) takes 25 to 40 L of cream per batch for best churning. Churning takes from 40 to 120 minutes and depends on the temperature, composition of the raw material and the drum spray system. Inside the drum are blades that pick up the cream, which then falls under its own weight and breaks up in the drum. In Milberg MI industrial butter churns, the special patented shape and arrangement of the blades provide repeated beating, which shortens churning time and improves butter quality.

Available butter churn configurations:

For small volumes we offer economical paddle churns (ML model). For continuous butter production, drum churns (MI model) are the best choice.

We make butter production equipment both for large dairy plants and milk processing workshops and for small family farms.

For small farms and compact premises, the Milberg ML paddle churn with a volume of 30–100 L or more is suitable. For large food workshops and spacious premises there is the Milberg Inox MI drum churn, made entirely of stainless steel. In addition to standard models, we can build a butter churn to your dimensions and process requirements. The special blade shape ensures ideal churning of the cream and makes maintenance and cleaning easy. All Milberg butter churns are made of certified food-grade stainless steel, fitted with safety rails with an electrical drive interlock, and comply with safety and hygiene regulations, as confirmed by an EAC declaration (EAEU technical regulations) and certificates. You can buy a batch butter churn from Milberg directly from the manufacturer, with no mark-ups, by filling in the form below:

FAQ

Are a butter churn and a batch butter-making machine the same thing?

Yes. "Batch butter-making machine" is the technical name for an industrial butter churn. Cream with 25–40% fat is poured into the drum in batches and churned into butter in 40–120 minutes, then unloaded, and the next batch is poured in. We make such churns from 30 to 3,000 L, as ML paddle churns and MI drum churns.

What churn volume should I choose?

The volume is calculated from the amount of cream per churning. Cream fills 25–40% of the geometric volume, at most up to half. For example, a 100 L churn takes 25–40 L of cream. Tell us how much cream you have per day, and we will select the volume.

How does a drum churn differ from a paddle churn?

The paddle churn (ML) is the economical option for small volumes. The drum churn (MI) is for continuous production, as its blades beat the cream repeatedly, so the butter comes out denser, up to 82% fat, and churning time is shorter.

How much does a butter churn cost?

Prices start from €1,900. The final price depends on type, volume and options. Tell us how much cream you plan to process, and we will prepare a quotation within one working day.

What is included, and what options are available?

A spray device, a wheeled trolley, and a guard with an electrical drive interlock. To order — drum speed control (+€300), a buttermilk transfer pump, and protective covers for the motor and supports.

What is the lead time?

Popular volumes are often in stock. If the churn you need is not available, we will build it from 15 working days.

Are spare parts available for butter churns?

Yes, we supply spare parts for Milberg butter churns, including supports, bearing assemblies, dampers and other components. Send us a photo of the part and the model, and we will select it and issue an invoice.

What documents come with the butter churn?

An EAC declaration of conformity (EAEU technical regulations) and a data sheet with the serial number. Welds are ground and finished. 12-month warranty.
