A family farm in the Tula Region processes milk from its own herd and decided to move from selling raw milk to making a finished product — farmhouse cheese. To get started it needed a unit that a small team without industrial cheesemaking experience could operate.
In April 2025 the farm received a 150-litre VS-150 cheese vat. The model was chosen to match actual milk yields: one batch corresponds to a day's milk collection, so the milk goes into processing fresh, without lengthy accumulation or unnecessary cooling costs.
The cheese vat pasteurizes the milk, holds the temperatures for adding starter culture and rennet, and stirs the curd grains. Control is straightforward: the process stages are set by a program, and the farmer does not have to watch every degree manually — the vat maintains the make regime itself.
On-site processing changes the farm's economics: finished cheese sells quite differently from raw milk, and the short distance from milking to cheesemaking benefits the taste and quality of the product. The stainless steel construction and well-designed cleaning procedure allow the farm to keep the unit in good order itself, without bringing in outside specialists. The VS-150 has become the farm's first step towards its own farmhouse cheese brand.
