Even bar geometry is what shoppers subconsciously use to judge the quality of butter on the shelf. A production company from the Moscow Region packs butter from blocks, and manual cutting could no longer cope: portion accuracy and the speed of the section both suffered.
In June 2025 the plant received a USR-11 wire cutter for butter blocks manufactured by Milberg. The machine divides a standard block into bars of a set size using tensioned wires — the cut is clean, with no crushed edges and no product sticking to the tool.
The wire principle handles chilled butter more gently than a knife: the product structure is not disturbed, the cut surface stays smooth, and changing over to a different bar size takes minimal time. All product-contact surfaces are made of stainless steel and are easy to sanitize.
For the packing section, the unit means consistent portion weight, fewer trimmings and less product sent back for reprocessing, as well as a predictable pace: cutting is no longer the bottleneck between the block store and the packing equipment. The operator only has to load the block and remove the finished bars — an operation that requires neither physical effort nor special skills.
