In a butter packing section, cutting blocks by hand remains one of the most labour-intensive operations: a 20 kg block has to be divided into bars of equal weight, and any deviation means either short weight or a direct loss of product. A dairy plant from the Belgorod Region approached Milberg with exactly this task.
In March 2025 the customer received a USR-11 wire cutter for butter blocks. The equipment divides a standard block into portion bars in a single pass: the wire frame gives a clean cut without crushing or product sticking, and interchangeable frames allow the section to be reconfigured for different portion weights.
The unit was integrated into the existing packing chain: after tempering, the blocks are fed to the cutter, and the finished bars go straight to wrapping. Operators no longer have to work with knives — both the labour intensity of the operation and the spread in portion weight, which previously had to be compensated by overfilling, have decreased.
For the plant, this is an opportunity to produce packed butter under its own brand and under retail chains' private labels, where requirements for weight accuracy and bar appearance are especially strict. Wire cutting closed the very link that had been holding back the growth of its packed product range.
