Packing butter from blocks starts with an accurate cut — and this is the step a production company from the Moscow Region decided to mechanize first: cutting blocks by hand caused weight variation and held back the packing section.
In September 2021 the plant received a USR-11 wire cutter for butter blocks. It works by dividing the block with tensioned wires: one pass, and the block becomes a set of identical bars with clean edges, ready for wrapping or further processing according to the recipe.
Compared with knife cutting, a wire touches the product over a minimal area, so the butter does not smear or stick to the tool, and the cut surface remains smooth. Changeover to a different portion format is quick, which is convenient when working with several types of packaging.
The unit removed the section's dependence on manual labour: portion weights became consistent, which directly affects fair packing and the economics — the plant stopped giving away extra grams in every pack and gained a steady flow of bars to the packing machine. The stainless steel construction and easy cleaning allowed the machine to fit into the workshop's sanitation routine without additional procedures.
