Confectionery and food producers usually receive butter in large blocks, but use it in portions. A production company from Moscow faced a typical bottleneck: cutting the blocks by hand slowed down raw material preparation and produced pieces of inaccurate weight.

In March 2023 a USR-11 wire cutter for butter blocks was delivered to the site. The operator places the block on the unit's table, and the tensioned wires divide it into equal-sized portions in a single pass — with no knives, no shavings and no deformation of the product.

Wire cutting preserves the dense structure of chilled butter and leaves a smooth cut surface to which crumbs do not stick. The frame and product-contact parts are made of stainless steel; sanitation comes down to washing the wires and surfaces and fits into the normal routine of a food production workshop.

Raw material preparation no longer depends on the physical strength and care of an individual worker: portions are now uniform, trimming losses have decreased, and the rate at which butter is fed into production has become predictable and easy to plan. The unit takes up minimal space and required neither a special foundation nor a complex connection — a typical case where one simple machine noticeably relieves an entire section.
