The task a production company from Saint Petersburg came to us with is familiar to every butter packer: blocks must be divided quickly and evenly into bars for packing, but manual cutting produces variation in weight and shape, so part of the product ends up as trimmings and part leads to complaints from retail chains.
The solution was a USR-11 wire cutter for butter blocks. The wire principle gives a clean cut without crushing the edges: in a single pass the block is divided into portion bars of identical cross-section, ready for wrapping. Adjusting the wire spacing makes it possible to change the portion format without replacing tooling — convenient for a range with several weight formats.
The equipment was shipped in October 2025. The unit was placed in the existing packing chain ahead of the wrapping equipment — no significant rework of the section was needed, and all product-contact surfaces are made of food-grade stainless steel designed for daily sanitation.
The company gained predictable portion geometry and fewer weight deviations at the checkpoint. Instead of a knife and scales, the operator works with mechanized cutting — both the speed of the section and the overall production culture have improved. In butter packing, this is one of those items that pays for itself simply by bringing order to the process.
