Two hundred litres of cream per cycle — that is the butter-making format chosen by a dairy plant in the Tyumen Region, which ordered an MI-200 batch butter churn in May 2018.
The plant takes in milk from farms across the region, and separation leaves it with a daily volume of cream that it used to sell on to other processors. Its own butter churn made it possible to turn this raw material into a finished product with far higher added value — butter under the plant's own brand.
The MI-200 works on the classic batch principle: ripened cream is churned in a rotating drum until butter grains form, the buttermilk is drained, and the grains are washed and worked into a dense mass. Batch operation gives the dairy process engineer full control over every batch — from the degree of churning to the moisture content of the finished butter — which matters when working with raw milk from different farms.
This 2018 delivery is one of those that built Milberg's footprint across the Urals and Siberia. The plant took in-house a processing stage it had previously handed to outside processors, and the buttermilk stays within the business, going into its own cultured dairy range. The equipment continues to run daily, bearing out the long service life designed into it.
