A manufacturing company in Saint Petersburg processes and packs butter, and its growth in volume ran up against an operation rarely considered at the outset — cutting up butter blocks. Manual cutting gave neither accurate portion weights nor the required pace, and the customer did not want to hire extra people for unskilled work.
The solution was a Milberg USR-11 wire cutter for butter blocks. The block is placed on the work table, and a system of tensioned wires divides it into bars of identical size in a single pass — cutting accuracy is determined by the machine's geometry, not by the operator's eye.
The wires cut chilled butter cleanly, without crushing the edges or sticking, so the bars are immediately ready for packing or further processing. The stainless steel construction and simple design without complex mechanics make the unit virtually maintenance-free: the routine comes down to sanitary washing.
The cutting area no longer holds back packing: portions have become identical in weight, losses on trimming and reprocessing of offcuts have fallen, and shift planning is simpler — the operation's output has become a constant that can be relied on in the schedule. The company moved the freed-up staff to packing and quality control of finished products.
