Centrifugal pumps

Centrifugal pumps are widely used in the food industry to transfer milk, beer, alcoholic and soft drinks.
They are among the most reliable and durable types of pumping equipment. Their main functional feature is continuous delivery of liquid.
Advantages:
- Simple design
- Durability, thanks to the absence of reciprocating parts
- High efficiency
- High capacity
- Steady, pulsation-free flow
- Flow can be adjusted with a throttle valve on the discharge line or with a frequency converter
Disadvantages:
- Not self-priming
- High risk of cavitation
- Flow rate depends on head
- Most efficient only at one specific duty point; efficiency drops when the flow is controlled with a frequency converter
- Cannot handle multiphase liquids containing air or gas
- When pumping abrasive liquids, the main components may wear quickly because of the high impeller speed (around 1,500 rpm)
- Cannot handle highly viscous liquids (max. 150 cSt)
They are the optimal choice and the best match in terms of operating parameters.
