A dairy plant from the Orenburg Region was renewing its heat treatment section: the existing vessel had reached the end of its service life, and the plant needed a reliable replacement batch pasteurizer — without stopping production for lengthy installation and re-piping of utilities.

In August 2019 the plant received a 200 L VDP-200 batch pasteurizer (long-time pasteurization vat). The unit heats milk to pasteurization temperature, holds it and then cools it in a single vessel; the agitator ensures even heating and prevents the product from burning on the walls.

At the plant the VDP-200 is used for small batches: pasteurizing milk for cultured dairy products, preparing standardized mixes and handling products that are not worth running through the large continuous line. It is precisely these "small" tasks that most often stall for lack of a suitable vessel.

The replacement was quick: the vat connects to standard utilities, and starting it up did not require any rebuilding of the workshop. The plant gained a versatile unit that took load off the main line and gave the dairy process engineers the freedom to develop new products in small volumes without interfering with main production. A simple design with a minimum of components also means minimal maintenance — for a busy plant schedule this is no less important than the capacity itself.
