- Milk processing equipment
In July 2020 a family farm on Sakhalin took the step from selling raw milk to processing it itself: a VDP-150 batch pasteurizer (long-time pasteurization vat) was delivered to the farm.
For remote regions this step is especially logical: transporting raw milk to a distant plant is expensive, and demand for local dairy products is consistently high — island consumers value fresh, locally made food. But any processing starts with the same thing — safe heat treatment of milk.
The VDP-150 pasteurizes a 150 L batch: the milk is heated through a jacket with a heat-transfer medium, held at a set temperature and cooled in the same vessel. The agitator ensures even heating without burn-on, and the compact dimensions made it possible to install the vat in the farm's existing premises without reconstruction.
Based on this single vessel, the farm built a product range: pasteurized milk sold by volume, fermented yoghurt and prostokvasha (soured milk), and milk warmed for farmhouse cheese. To start on-farm processing, a VDP of this size is the optimal first machine: it is versatile, needs no complex installation and staff master it within days. Delivery to Sakhalin was organized with the sea leg in mind — the equipment arrived in sturdy transport packaging and was started up by the farm itself following the manufacturer's instructions.
