Calf feeding is an operation on which the future of the dairy herd directly depends, and it is not only farms that want to mechanize it but also processors with their own livestock. A dairy plant in the Kaluga Region that keeps its own herd bought an MT-250 milk taxi from Milberg in December 2023.
A milk taxi is a mobile 250-litre tank with heating and a dosing gun. The operator prepares milk or replacer right in the tank, brings it to the set temperature and takes it round the calf barn sections, giving each calf an identical portion. A built-in agitator keeps the mix from separating during feeding.
A winter delivery mattered to the customer: in the cold season it is especially important that milk reaches the farthest pens still warm. The taxi's heating takes care of this, and the tank on large wheels is moved by one person even along uneven alleys.
At the plant the MT-250 replaced buckets and manual pouring: feeding has become faster, portions accurate and the mix temperature the same for the first and the last calf in the row. This is a direct contribution to the health of young stock and, ultimately, to the plant's own raw milk supply. The equipment is used every day for two feeds — morning and evening.
